It's Fun To Do Good and GRR Legends knows it!

GRR Legends is a social and support group "for parents by parents" and their amazing adult special needs children.

"Our vision is to assist our adult special needs children to interact with others through various activities such as swimming, bowling, movie night, field games, while their parents also join in on the fun. There will also be occasions for parents to speak with each other, ask for advice or just vent in a safe, non-stressful, non-judgmental environment where their adult children are welcome.

The GRR Legends social group was started by the parents of a former athlete of the Special Olympics Gilbert Roadrunners Unified Sports Team.  The research found many support groups available for parents and several activity-based events for their adult children. However, there is nothing offered for these adult children or their parents under one umbrella. In reality, there are not too many options available for special needs adults. Our children are not cute little kids anymore and often not given a second thought by those who do not live this life every day.  And this is where the idea for the GRR Legends social group started.

GRR Legends is brand new. We had our first meeting in April 2019. Currently, this is a closed group for special needs adults (17 and over) who are or were athletes participating with the Gilbert Roadrunners Unified sports team. We are in the process of applying for non-profit status and any donations are welcome and appreciated.

This club is FOR PARENTS BY PARENTS. A place where friends become family and lives are enriched."

The goal of Lights Camera Discover is to help these students discover their own value and the importance of teamwork to create positive change in their lives.
Lights Camera Discover focuses primarily on middle school and high school youth. This age group is particularly problematic, but it is a perfect time for mentoring to be effective.
