Ten years ago A Precious Child started out in a garage, moved into a church, relocated 8 years ago in their current building and this May 21st they will be combining their 6 units under one roof up in their newest building on 120th and Main in Broomfield. We had the opportunity to visit with Nicole Karpinsky, the Director of volunteer services and was provided with a tour of their lovely resource center.
A Precious Child is dedicated to providing opportunities and resources to kids in need to empower them to achieve their full potential. They envision a future where every child grows up to be a secure, self-reliant, contributing members of their community. They work with more than 370 agency partners throughout 8 counties in Colorado to identify children and families in the most need of their services.
A Precious Child provides books, movies, pots and pans, linens along with basic necessities and clothes. Families are allowed to visit three times a year to pick up 2 weeks of clothing that is located at A Precious Child's resource center! While the parents are shopping the kids can hang out and have a fun time in the inspiring mind center connected with the resource center.
A sports section is also available for game players! Scholarships are offered through the organization to help kids with sports, art, band, theatre and much more.
A Precious Child has accomplished so much in the last year with 5,000 volunteers ranging anywhere starting at the age of 5 years and older helping over 44,000 children including filling up and handing out over 15,000 backpacks full of supplies for school with their Fill A Backpack program!
The future goal for A Precious Child is to keep expanding their organization to continue to serve more and more children in a respectful way!
